Rebirthing? Tyria Jacobaeae

You never know if this is going to be a definitive rebirth of the blog or if it`s going to end up inside the chrysalis again, but a bit of air to warm up the wings won`t hurt anyone…

Pasa den astean twitterren sits eder batekin topo egin nuen. Beno, orain badakit sits bat dela, baita sitsak pinpilinpausak ere badirela eta sits ugari egunez bizi direla, hori beste gauzen artean… Tyria Jacobaeae du izena espezie dotore honek.

As soon as I met the picture of a Cinnabar moth I inmediately felt the need of making a cloth version of it. This superb creature is quite common, and although the night dress she´s got, she has day-flying habits. She`s also poisonous, but as you can see she`s quite «honest» about it.

Hankak hobetu behar ditut, forma eta materiala aldetik. Beste behin hurbildu nintzen brikolaje dendara «arrarokeri» bat eskatzen: alanbre beltza. Berdea, metalizatua eta urre kolorekoa zuten, listo. Listo ere dendakoa, betiko moduan, zuk putaidearik ez eta unikornioen munduan bizi zarela era sotilean esaten dizulako. Nola jakingo duzu zuk bera baino gehiago gizonezkoen afera hauetan. Enfinserafin, egia esan, neri bost, baina alanbre beltzarik gabe etxera.

Until here the Tyria Jacobaeae post. I`ll leave her alone to do whatever she does on monday nights. You can be sure that she`ll have a companion sooner than later… I have a couple of moths in mind, but this time I`m not sure if I will be true to reality. Well, one of them certainly not, or is there any luminiscent butterfly? If there is, please, let me know ;)

LASTER ARTE!

«Threaded» Godais!

Happy to anounce that three Godai Ladies have been selected to be part of Threaded, an online exhibition curated by Envision Arts.
Fu, Chi and Ku are sharing virtual space with an interesting selection of textile art pieces from many other parts of the glove. I highly recommend to go and have a look, there are many ways to express through fiber.

Bost Godai Ladiak aurkeztu nituen, baina artista bakoitzeko gehienez hiru lan aukeratzen zituzten. Parte hartuko nuela jakinarazi zidatenean kuriosidadeaz jota begiratu nuen zein zen haien hautaketa… Nere bi faboritoak kanpoan, kuriosoa. XD

Improvised textile oven

Let`s see how long it takes to get these little ones dry.

Last time I molded in ball shape I got short of stiffener, and the molds were not the proper ones, I used very hard wood balls that were imposible to pin on them. This time I have cork balls and a bit more of stiffener. Cross fingers.
With these optimization of the heat I hope to see the result in a few hours…
(The big half sphere will take much longer, one layer of buckram and another of a thick linen. It will take ages I´m afraid)

Can you guess what are they about to become this time? They are going to be a very diferent species.

Warm winter

Finally I am able to tell you all the trips that The Ladies are about to make this coming months!
I`m so happy to anounce that we have a two week exhibition in Bilbao, at Bilbaoarte. There they will be wondering about balance, and its importance in the path of life.
Another group of Ladies will move to Prague to attend to Doll Prague V. International Exhibition. Amadea is going back, this year well guarded by Frija and Inanna; they will be accompanied by another ten Ladies: mermaids, extrange creatures and a magician.
(Oh, and in a special carriage a Queen will travel with us, ssshhh don`t tell anyone…)
In mid december we will fly to Russia, a big jump, but I know for certain that at least two of the Ladies visiting Moscow will feel like home. At Art of Doll Beruta will become a storyteller with a Winter Tale, what a better place to do it than a cold cold city.

No need to say, that we are so exited, happy, hopeful, thankful, exhausted, nervous and many other things altogether!

I will be revealing which Lady has a ticket to go where. If not here, they will be appearing one by one at their instagram account beruta.ladies. So, if you want to know which Lady is in town, just check it there ;)

Woopee! On the move!
